French cinema loses Bernard Verley, star of « L’Amour l’après-midi »

Bernard Verley died on September 27, 2026, at his home in Tréguier, Brittany, at the age of 86. Born in 1939 in Lille, he studied at the Beaux-Arts before performing at the Théâtre national populaire under Jean Vilar. He worked with renowned directors such as Luis Buñuel, Éric Rohmer, Jean-Luc Godard, Claude Chabrol, and François Ozon, notably playing Father Preynat in « Grâce à Dieu ». He also appeared on television, and his brother Renaud Verley is an actor.
