FRSC launches fresh crackdown on fake number plates and vehicle overloading in Benue State

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) began the second phase of Operation Guduma on November 2, 2026, with a five-day patrol in Benue State and 11 other Nigerian states. Officers are targeting unregistered vehicles and those with fake, concealed, defaced or expired number plates, as well as motorists overloading passengers, animals or goods. Corps Commander Christopher Haruna Kuje said unidentified vehicles can hinder security investigations; the operation’s first phase in May led to more than 1,600 motorists being arrested. State commands will continue enforcement after the nationwide intervention is scheduled to end on November 6.
