Fulani Group Accuses Plateau Government of Backing Attacks on Herders

A group representing Fulani herders accused the Plateau State Government of backing attacks and killings targeting pastoralists and their livestock, particularly in Barkin Ladi, Riyom and Mangu local government areas. In a statement shared on X by security analyst Zagazola Makama, the group alleged that security personnel were linked to some attacks, failed to respond promptly and allowed arrested suspects to be released soon afterward. It called for those responsible to be arrested and prosecuted, victims to be compensated, and safety measures to be put in place, warning that herders might resort to self-defence. The allegations have not been independently verified, and the state government and security authorities have yet to respond.
