Funding: IOM aims to mobilize Zakat and Muslim donations to support projects in Cameroon

The International Organization for Migration (IOM) aims to leverage Zakat and Sadaqah as new sources of development funding in Cameroon. Its head of mission, Abdel Rahmane Diop, introduced this initiative on September 29, 2026, during a consultation with the banking and financial sector in Yaoundé. The IOM has an official fatwa permitting the collection of these religious donations, but no specific collection mechanism, target amount, or timeline has been announced for Cameroon yet.
