Strike in universities: SYNES and Jacques Fame Ndongo resume dialogue

State Minister Jacques Fame Ndongo met with the National Union of Higher Education Teachers (SYNES) in Yaoundé on September 17, 2026, as the strike that began on September 3 continues. SYNES demands the settlement of owed amounts to teachers and further discussions with the government. Although 41% of an academic debt of 15.498 billion FCFA has been paid, the union maintains its strike due to unmet demands.
