Gambia: appointment of a special prosecutor to judge crimes under Jammeh

Gambia has appointed Martin Hackett, a British specialist in war crimes, as a special prosecutor to pursue crimes committed under Yahya Jammeh's regime. This decision follows criticism regarding the slow judicial process, as the Truth, Reconciliation and Reparations Commission recommended prosecutions against Jammeh and 69 others. The prosecutor will be tasked with judging around 70 suspects identified by the commission.
