Gambia: US returns $2.5 million for Jammeh’s victims

Gambia confirmed that it received $2,573,414.10 from the United States, proceeds from the sale of a mansion owned by former leader Yahya Jammeh. The Gambian Reparations Commission will use the money to compensate victims of abuses committed during Jammeh’s 22 years in power, from 1994 to 2017.

Belgium urged dialogue, respect for the ceasefire, implementation of commitments made in the Doha and Washington processes, and protection of civilians. The FRN says it takes over the rights and commitments of the AFC/M23, including those arising from the Doha negotiations.
