Garoua Port: a management committee to formalize the infrastructure and secure revenues

On April 2, 2026, the prefect of Bénoué, Oumarou Haman Wabi, chaired a strategic meeting to establish a formal management committee for the Garoua river port. This initiative aims to enhance governance and turn the port into a logistical and financial lever. The municipality will need to appoint a technical team to manage the port, and a census of operators, particularly artisanal canoe owners, will be conducted to combat smuggling.
