Gas price rises by 8.3% to N1,300/kg, higher in informal locations

The price of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) increased by 8.3% to N1,300 per kilogram as of September 16, 2026, up from N1,200 in August 2026. Accredited gas stations in Lagos are selling LPG at N1,300, while smaller plants are charging N1,350 and N1,400. Mr. Inyang Edu, President of the Nigerian Association of Liquefied Petroleum Gas Marketers, attributed the increase to volatility in the global energy market, particularly due to geopolitical crises involving the United States and Iran.
