Gaza flotilla activist on hunger strike in Tunisia jail ‘on verge of death’

Wael Naouar, a Gaza solidarity activist, has been hospitalized over a month after starting a hunger strike to protest his detention in Tunisia. Bassem Trifi of the Tunisian League for the Defence of Human Rights stated Naouar is in critical condition and on the verge of death, having lost over 20 kg and experiencing body pain. The Tunisian court rejected an appeal against the extension of pre-trial detention for Naouar and three other activists accused of misusing funds raised for the Global Sumud Flotilla, which opposes Israel’s blockade of Gaza.
