The General Bank of Cameroon (GBC) recorded a decrease of 111.21 billion FCFA in customer deposits in August 2026, dropping from 1,045.52 billion to 934.31 billion FCFA, a decline of 10.6%. Meanwhile, debts to banks increased by 112.83 billion FCFA, reaching 196.01 billion, representing a rise of 135.6%. Customer deposits now account for only 63.2% of the bank's balance sheet.
