Ghana government to crack down on TV stations airing Nigerian movies

The Ghana government has announced plans to sanction TV stations that air Nigerian films without authorization. James Gardiner, Deputy CEO of the Ghana National Film Authority, made the announcement in a video with Nigerian producer Uchenna Mbunabo. Gardiner said they are working with the Ministry of Communication to revoke licenses and require fresh applications, aiming for completion by 2027. Many Nigerian filmmakers, including Bimbo Ademoye and Mercy Johnson, had previously called out Ghanaian TV stations for illegally airing their films.
