Ghana is proceeding with a 1,200-megawatt gas-fired power plant at Kafodzidzi-Abrobeano to improve electricity supply and reduce costs. Finance Minister Cassiel Ato Forson confirmed the project's viability, with the first 600-megawatt phase expected to begin operations in 2028. The government estimates that the new plant could lower generation costs and lead to a 10% to 20% reduction in electricity tariffs.
