Ghana withdraws from US aid negotiations over personal data requirements

Ghana has ended negotiations for a multi-year aid agreement with the United States after Washington demanded access to its citizens' personal data. The agreement, which would have provided $109 million in funding over five years, was primarily focused on the health sector. The U.S. exerted pressure on the Ghanaian negotiating team after the request for personal data was rejected. The proposed funding was significantly lower than that offered to other African countries like Kenya and Nigeria.
