Niger mining tragedy: NSCDC officials sprayed unknown substance on miners – Survivor alleges

A survivor of the tragic illegal mining incident in Niger State alleged that officials of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) sprayed an unknown substance inside a cell where miners were held. The survivor claimed that after being crammed into a small room, they were taken to a cell where the substance was sprayed, causing some individuals to collapse. Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, visited the survivors to understand the circumstances surrounding the incident.
