Giulio Regeni Case: Three Egyptians Sentenced to Ten Years in Prison in Rome

A court in Rome sentenced three Egyptian security agents to ten years in prison for kidnapping in connection with the disappearance of Italian researcher Giulio Regeni, who went missing in Cairo in January 2016. A fourth defendant was acquitted. Regeni, a 28-year-old Italian doctoral student, was abducted while researching independent unions in Egypt, and his mutilated body was found nine days later on the outskirts of Cairo.
