Gombe launches emergency vaccination campaign after 332 diphtheria cases

The Gombe State Government has launched an emergency vaccination campaign after 332 cases of diphtheria were recorded in four local government areas: Akko, Gombe, Kwami, and Funakaye. The first phase of the immunization program will run from September 20 to 24, 2026, with additional doses scheduled 14 and 7 days after the first. School principals have been instructed to collaborate with health officials and educate students and parents about the vaccination exercise.
