Government silent on policing and deportation costs for September 30 protests

The Inter-Ministerial Committee (IMC) on Migration has not disclosed the costs related to policing, deportation, and repatriation operations for the planned anti-undocumented migration protests on September 30. IMC chairperson Mmamoloko Kubayi reported that 205 cases have been registered, with 354 individuals arrested. Home Affairs Minister Dr Leon Schreiber revealed that the department has spent over R175 million on deportation costs for undocumented migrants.
