Gowon calls for unity, respect despite differences

Former Nigerian Head of State General Yakubu Gowon on Saturday called for unity and respect for others despite religious and ethnic differences. He made the call at the public presentation of three books in honour of General Abdulsalami Abubakar on his 84th birthday, titled 'The Legacy of a Statesman @ 84'. Gowon highlighted the importance of dignity in labour and the values of peace, democracy and good governance. He urged young people to emulate Abubakar's patriotism, commitment to justice and dedication to national unity.
