Grand North: Over 600 Billion FCFA in Road Projects, but Several Sites Less Than 6% Completed

The Ministry of Public Works reports positive progress on major road projects funded by the African Development Bank, World Bank, and European Union in the Grand North, covering 709 km including 449 km on National Road No. 1. However, a technical review highlights significant delays on several sites, particularly the Ngaoundéré-Garoua road, which remains less than 6% complete. Minister Emmanuel Nganou Djoumessi states that work on gravel production and earthworks has begun between the Salah Bridge and the Bénou. Despite over 600 billion FCFA in funding, actual project progress is lagging behind official statements.
