Greece pushes EU to suspend asylum during mass migration surges | European Union News | Al Jazeera

Greece has urged the European Union to allow member states to temporarily suspend asylum applications during mass migration surges, citing the recent crisis in Ceuta this summer. The proposal was submitted at the Justice and Home Affairs Council in Luxembourg and received support from some member states. Dutch Migration Minister Bart van den Brink supported treating large influxes like those in Ceuta as border management issues rather than asylum issues.
