Green Party members adopted a motion declaring Zionism a form of racism, causing a split among senior party figures. The motion, presented at the Brighton conference, describes Zionism as supporting an ethnonationalist Jewish state and endorses a single democratic Palestinian state in all of historic Palestine. It was approved by 1022 votes to 813, despite criticism from Jewish groups who see Zionism as an anti-racist movement. Party leader Zack Polanski disagreed with the wording and wanted amendments, but he did not vote.
