Guinea-Bissau: Former President Embalo Aims to Reclaim Power

Umaro Sissoco Embaló, former exiled president of Guinea-Bissau ousted in November, announced he would return to the country and run in the December 6 presidential election. The military junta, led by General Horta N'Tam, suspended the electoral process shortly after the coup but plans to hold elections to restore civilian rule. Embaló, suspected by many of orchestrating the coup to avoid losing an electoral race, stated he would come back without specifying when and would run for president.
