Guinea: Former Chief of Staff to Alassane Ouattara, Sidya Touré, Dies in Paris at 81

Sidya Touré died on September 25, 2026, at the American Hospital in Paris at the age of 81 due to illness. He served as Guinea's Prime Minister from 1996 to 1999 under Lansana Conté and was previously the chief of staff to Alassane Ouattara in Ivory Coast. He ran in the 2010 presidential election, finishing third, and was seriously injured during the repression on September 28, 2009. Following the 2021 coup d’état, he lived outside Guinea but remained politically active.
