Totti turns down Italy, Roma to join basketball club

Francesco Totti announced that he turned down offers from the Italian national team and his former club, Roma, to become an adviser to Maxima, a new basketball team in Rome. Maxima is among the clubs hoping to participate in the planned NBA Europe project set for 2027. Totti stated that he felt valued and part of the project, which convinced him to make this choice. He will celebrate his 50th birthday on September 27, the date of Maxima's first Serie A match.
