Hantavirus: WHO confirms death of three individuals

A suspected outbreak of hantavirus aboard the MV Hondius cruise ship in the Atlantic Ocean has resulted in the deaths of three individuals, including an elderly couple from the Netherlands. A 69-year-old British man who fell ill on the ship has been transferred to a South African hospital after testing positive for hantavirus. The WHO is working with authorities to evacuate two additional symptomatic individuals from the ship, which was located near Praia, Cape Verde.
