Haut-Katanga: Michel Kabwe warns about ongoing insecurity at parliamentary session opening

During the parliamentary session opening at the Haut-Katanga Provincial Assembly, Michel Kabwe Muamba, the president of the assembly, highlighted the ongoing security challenges in the province. He reported incursions by Maï-Maï/Bakata Katanga groups in Mitwaba and ongoing urban crimes such as vehicle thefts, burglaries, kidnappings, and banditry in several cities. He also praised security forces for their response to the armed attack in Kilobelobe, Lubumbashi, which resulted in two police officers being killed, and mentioned the murder of Vincent Mwana Mulenda, President of the Haut-Katanga Court of Appeal, noting that recent judicial proceedings led to death sentences and a 20-year prison term.
