The governor of Haut-Uele, Jean Bakomito Gambu, has called for vigilance after the announcement of seven deaths from the Ebola virus (Bundibugyo strain) in the Wamba health zone. Results from the INRB laboratory in Kinshasa and Bunia, published on July 9, 2026, confirmed these cases. Suspect alerts have also been reported in the Pawa, Bomokandi zones and the city of Isiro. The governor urged the population to strictly adhere to barrier measures, including avoiding physical contact and hand washing.
