Have scientists discovered a dark matter particle?

Deep underground in an old gold mine in the Black Hills of South Dakota, scientists have used a tank of liquid xenon to produce an unusual particle reaction that may be linked to dark matter. They reported a single unexplained particle interaction, although no confirmed detection has been announced. Dark matter, believed to make up about 27% of all matter in the universe, remains a mystery as it cannot be detected directly.
