HDI: Unesco, UNDP and Ministry of Planning together for coherence of national and international data

A workshop on the methodological harmonization of the Human Development Index (HDI) calculation took place in Abidjan from September 15 to 17, 2026, organized by UNDP, UNESCO, and the Ministry of Planning. The main goal was to improve the coherence of statistical data between Côte d'Ivoire and international standards, in preparation for the upcoming National Human Development Report. Speakers, including Mame Omar Diop from UNESCO and Souleymane Diarrassouba, the Minister of Planning, emphasized the importance of the HDI in assessing the well-being of populations and the ongoing challenges, particularly in education.
