The headline inflation rate fell by 0.04% to 15.39% in August 2026 from 15.43% in July. This decline was driven by a further easing in the core basket to 13.29%. Food inflation also decreased by 0.74 percentage points to 19.57%, attributed to lower prices of various food items such as palm oil and fresh fish.
