Researchers from the University of Southern California and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology have developed an experimental pacemaker that uses ultrasound to stimulate the heart without implanting a device. This system, tested on human heart cells and animals, was able to control cardiac activity and restore normal rhythm in rats. While promising, this device remains experimental and is not a replacement for traditional pacemakers used in hospitals.
