Heathrow Airport's third runway may be delayed to 2039

Heathrow Airport, the UK's busiest airport, has warned that its planned third runway might be delayed by four years due to planning and regulatory issues. Originally expected to open by 2035, the project now aims for a possible opening around 2039, contingent on securing planning permission by 2029. Despite opposition from environmentalists and local residents, the expansion is expected to create around 100,000 jobs and boost the economy, involving demolitions and infrastructure changes. A public consultation was published in June, with a parliamentary vote possibly delayed until 2027.
