Watch: 15,000 homes without power as Storm Austen batters Britain

Storm Austen, the first named storm of the season, is battering southern England and Wales, leaving more than 15,000 homes without power. Gusts of up to 135 km/h were recorded in Jersey, while fallen trees disrupted roads and railway lines in southern England. In Brighton, part of the abandoned West Pier, which first opened in 1866, collapsed into the sea. Storm Boelo is forecast to bring strong winds and heavy rain on Saturday, and the Met Office has issued an amber wind warning for parts of Scotland, northern England and Northern Ireland on Saturday and Sunday.
