Burkina Faso: Another Terrorist Leader Killed by the Army

A unit of the Campaign Counterterrorism Special Forces (FORSATEC) launched an operation against fighters based in the Konga forest, in Gomboro commune, killing several group members and dismantling bases. Saïdou Diallo, about 47 and originally from Toaga, was killed in the operation; he was deputy head of the Konga-Gomboro base and reportedly handled logistics, including the resale of stolen livestock. Authorities accused him of involvement in attacks on the defense and security forces, Volunteers for the Defense of the Homeland, and civilians in Sourou and Yatenga provinces. The military reportedly recovered weapons, transport vehicles, food supplies, and pharmaceutical products.

They also accuse authorities of failing to adequately monitor COMMUS, which is controlled by Zijin Mining, and enforce environmental laws.
