Home Affairs officials ‘paid to ignore’ fraudulent visa documents

Home Affairs officials allegedly received kickbacks from foreign nationals to ignore fraudulent supporting documents and approve visas for unqualified applicants, as revealed by the Special Investigating Unit (SIU). 205 visas have been flagged for revocation and deportation, and seven disciplinary referrals have been made. The investigation, authorized under Proclamation 154 of 2024, covers nearly two decades of visa management and has uncovered widespread weaknesses in the department's immigration processes.
