Housing Allowance: The Amount Received by University Administrative Staff

Non-resident agents or those without existing compensation are entitled to a housing allowance of 100,000 CFA francs per month, as per a decree signed in January 2026. However, administrative, technical, and service staff (PATS) at public universities and university centers have not yet received this benefit, despite the official announcement. Unions denounce discrimination and have been protesting since 2025 to enforce this measure. The issue affects over 16,000 state agents, including those working in higher education.
