Houthi fighters clash with Yemeni government forces in country’s southwest

Yemeni government forces are engaged in fierce clashes with Houthi fighters across several fronts west of Taiz province. The Houthis attempted to advance to cut the road linking Taiz to al-Makha, potentially isolating Taiz from the coast. According to Yemen's Army Media Centre, more than 18 Houthi fighters were killed in the clashes, while 13 government forces also lost their lives.
