Houthi Official Says Egypt’s Military Support for Saudi Arabia Is a Declaration of War

Mohammed Ali al-Houthi, a member of the Houthis’ political bureau, said Egypt’s parliament authorising military support for Saudi Arabia amounted to a declaration of war against Yemen. His comments followed a visit to Tehran by Saudi Defence Minister Khalid bin Salman, Pakistan’s army chief Asim Munir and Turkish intelligence chief Ibrahim Kalin, who met Iranian officials in an effort to ease tensions. Al-Houthi also called a recently signed defence pact between Iran, Pakistan and Turkey an act of aggression. The Houthis stepped up attacks on Saudi Arabia in October as Yemen’s conflict reignited after a fragile truce collapsed.
