How a 20-day delay cost Coca-Cola a Sh70 million tax claim

Coca-Cola Beverages Ltd lost a Sh69.7 million input value-added tax (VAT) claim from the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) after a tribunal ruled that the company submitted the claim 20 days past the statutory six-month deadline. The Tax Appeal Tribunal noted that the VAT claim was filed on August 20, 2025, well after the July 31, 2025 deadline.
