Five kayakers rescued after getting lost in fog off Cape Town’s Atlantic Seaboard

Five kayakers were rescued by the NSRI off Three Anchor Bay after getting lost in thick fog off Cape Town’s Atlantic Seaboard. The rescue was prompted by an emergency call from a kayaker in distress, revealing that two local women aged 60 and 59 and three German tourists aged 35, 26, and 21 were on one single sea kayak and two double kayaks. The NSRI launched a rescue operation using the boat Colorpress Rescuer, with assistance from an NSRI Atlantic Seaboard rescue swimmer and members of Atlantic Adventures, who had spotted the kayakers and provided support with their safety craft. The kayakers were found disoriented and adrift, staying together until rescue.
