A study by Antonia Juelich from Cambridge University reveals that members of Boko Haram and ISWAP in Nigeria used AI chatbots (ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Grok, DeepSeek) to improve improvised explosive devices and overcome tactical obstacles. Former commanders report consulting these tools to modify motorcycles to breach defensive trenches and to obtain advice on chemical composition of explosives, thereby increasing blast power.
