How Rwanda trained and certified 24,000 teachers in less than one year

In 2021, Pelagie Abayikunda began teaching French in a primary school in Kigali despite lacking formal training. In April 2024, Rwanda launched a program to certify uncertified teachers, aiming to train all pre-primary and primary teachers within a year. The program utilized condensed modules and was delivered on weekends and public holidays, involving 600 trainers across the country.
