Tuesday marks 100 days since the start of Israel's second military escalation against Lebanon in less than two years. Israeli forces have destroyed dozens of villages in southern Lebanon, and direct diplomatic talks between Israel and Lebanon have occurred for the first time in decades, but efforts to implement a ceasefire have failed. Iran has pledged to link the conflict to any ceasefire deal with the US and Israel, and attacked Israel in retaliation for a strike on Beirut's southern suburbs. Hezbollah is now using fibre-optic drones, returning to its guerrilla roots to wear down Israeli troops.
