'I have no X account,' INEC Chair warns against fake profiles

The chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof. Joash Amupitan, has denied operating any personal account on the social media platform X, formerly Twitter. He dismissed a viral claim that he endorsed a partisan post as fabrication, stating it aimed to undermine his integrity at a critical time for electoral reforms. INEC also reported that cybercriminals have been operating fake accounts in his name to defraud Nigerians.
