“I refuse to put pressure on myself”: Elyaz Zidane makes no promises to Algeria

Twenty-year-old Red Star defender Elyaz Zidane has not ruled out representing Algeria, but says he wants to focus on his club and avoid rushing a decision. In an interview with Le Parisien, he said “anything is possible” and that his international future remains unwritten. Unlike his brother Luca, Elyaz has already earned 46 appearances for France’s youth teams, including a U17 European Championship title in 2022 and a place in the U19 Euro final in 2024. After spending over a decade in Real Madrid’s academy and playing for Betis Sevilla’s reserve side, he joined Red Star this summer and has started seven of eight Ligue 2 matches.
