The Algorithms of Comedy and the Geometrics of Comedians

Bobson Gbinije describes comedy as a way to ease anxieties caused by poverty, corruption, conflict and political inertia. Comedians use satire, sarcasm, allegory and gesture to provoke laughter while exposing society’s failings, as seen in works by Homer, Achebe, Soyinka, Dickens and Shakespeare. He casts comedy as a tool for social change, political and economic renewal and psychological therapy, while urging comedians to act without malice and with charity.
