ICC convicts former Central African Republic militia leader

Mahamat Said Abdel Kani, a former commander of the Seleka rebel coalition, was convicted of crimes against humanity by the International Criminal Court (ICC) in The Hague. He was found guilty of overseeing a detention facility in Bangui where supporters of former President Francois Bozize were tortured during the 2013 civil war. Although he was acquitted of three war crimes charges, a separate hearing will determine his sentence.
