ICC leaders condemn efforts to erode international legal order

The current and former presidents of the ICC's Assembly of States Parties stated that efforts to diplomatically isolate the institution aim to erode confidence in the international legal order. They emphasized that the ICC represents a collective decision by sovereign states to establish rules for prosecuting serious crimes. Additionally, they rejected the notion that the court undermines state sovereignty, asserting that joining international treaties is an exercise of sovereignty.
