ICPC sacks security officer over unauthorised access granted El-Rufai’s wife

The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) dismissed Daniel Stephen, a security officer, for assisting Aichatou Assabe El-Rufai in gaining access to her husband, former Kaduna State governor, while he was in custody. Stephen admitted in a written statement to escorting Assabe through a back entrance on July 5, 2026, violating established security procedures. He also acknowledged that his actions constituted a breach of the commission's rules.
